What issues are associated with moving to a house in the countryside?
After many years living in cities I now fancy moving to a house in a the country, lots of space, maybe a couple of acres of land, etc.
There must be a whole range of issues and problems associated with this type of lifestyle and owning a property in the country.
For example:
Lack of shops and facilities so forward planning needed.
Inceased security issues/Isolation.
No Broadband connection!!!
Limited utilities such as Sceptic tank, bottled Gas.
Bad weather/snow in winter.
Issues with public access rights over my land.
The area I'm looking is only be 15-20 minutes from a Town so this is not going to be a house in the middle of nowhere but what else do I need to consider before I start looking at country property?
Thanks.
Answer:I have moved from the city to the country. The issues you bring up are legit but not a big deal, you will adjust. I am glad I made the move. As far as inter net, I have DSL and you can always get satellite, not a real issue.
Public access in the country is no different that the city. Fence your property or post no trespassing signs. Most people are respectful of that. Those that aren't will trespasses whether they are in the city our country. As far as easement just pay attention to what the deed states and how the land is currently used.
Answer:If your car breaks down, the people will take longer to reach you so you will have to maybe learn some things about mechanics to look after it on your own esp if you don't have neighbours.
You have to seriously stock up on water etc just incase you are in a bad winter and cant use your car to reach the town to buy supplies
Answer:why go the whole extreme from city to country, why not live in or on the outskirts of a village.
in the country you NEED to have transport
