Time allowed to cancel financial agreement?

The law allows a minimum of 7 days or longer if the transaction is agreed away from your home address. As long as you have not obtained any benefit before cancellation there should be no trouble. Put your cancellation in writing, send it by recorded delivery or registered post, and send copies to your bank and current supplier if you are changing a service provider. For example, I was recently persuaded to accept Talk-Talk telephone service, but on re-reading the contract at home realised it was not what I expected. I immediately followed the recommendations already stated and yesterday received a letter from my bank confirming that the direct debit is now cancelled. Hope this helps. Gladgran
