How long should it take to start seeing profit in a new restaurant?
IM A CHEF OF 20 PLUS YEARS AND AM NOW RUNNING A RESTAURANT AS A PARTNER THE OTHER PARTNER HAS NOT BEEN IN THE TRADE BEFORE AND IS FINDING IT HARD TO UNDERSTAND HOW LONG IT COULD TAKE AND HOW MUCH IT COULD TAKE TILL WE MAKE PROFIT.sorry for caps not sure how to change it

Answer:Well if you had done this properly with a business plan you would know the answer to your question, you should not even think about starting a business without some idea of how long it will take to clear your start up costs and start making a profit, how do you know you will not be bankrupt before the profits start to come, very stupid to say the least
Answer:Should take a minimum of two years for a generalized ballpark figure or depending on how popular your business becomes slightly less than that. Find out what are your profits minus costs, i.e. overhead, and when the break even point is reached and a profit is starting to turn then you will know. It is different for every business.
Answer:Location, location, location……if nobody can find you then they won't eat there. You have got to make sure the people can find you and LIKE your food! You need butts in seats and foot traffic and word of mouth…….another very helpful item is specials and coupons especially in this horrible economy. Local news letters and bulk USPS mailers will help people find you and put you on the road to profits…..not huge profits, but any gain is a gain.
Answer:How long is a piece of string? for the first year or so you will be paying out all the expenses including wages. If you are busy every day you might be lucky and make a profit in your first year. He needs to have a word with your Accountant ( hope you have one), who will give him some idea how business works.
